I am new to Ubuntu. I have tried to install Ubuntu half a dozen times.
Each time the installer crashes with a cryptic message which when
decoded by looking at each partition means it ran out of disk space on

I had same problem when tried to install to 2Gb root and 512Mb swap. No
warning before install started.

Sorry for the bugmail noise -- I marked this as a duplicate of 48355 but
see now that there was a fix for that in version earlier than the one
you are using.
Did you get any warning about disk space before the install started?
