I just wanted to report that the update to Kubuntu 11.10 seems to have fixed the problems I was having. I'm guessing that the upstream fix to kdelibs resolved the bug causing kpackagekitsmarticon to grab too many files, as expected. I suggest marking this as fixed. -- You received this bug

What's the timeline for getting an update from upstream KDE on this rolled into an Kubuntu bugfix? Is there any way for me to help accelerate things? I know nothing about the way these updates get built, but this problem is affecting LOTS of people (including me) and it would be nice to get some

Incidentally, this bug should probably be marked as a duplicate of 680444 (or vis-a-versa) ASSUMING that we can get 680444 switched back from Fixed to an active status. I think one reason that it's been so hard to get traction on this is that so many versions of the bug reports keep getting

I had to reboot regularly after a few days because of this problem. dbus-daemon took 100% CPU with too many open files (strace) and dbus communication came to a halt. Like Warren Jones mentioned in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261180#c4 dbus-daemon as well as kpackagekitsmarticon have

Happened for me as well, dbus-daemon (a fork of it) started to use 100% CPU when I tried to start thunderbird, which never came up. It did not stop when I killed the thunderbird process manually, but it did stop when I also killed nepumuk-server (which I read was a candidate, too). Hope this
