Title:
Our solution for now and maybe forever:
disabling proxy completely for all ubuntu machines.
Our IT administrators have reviewed the issue and found out that some
services from other systems got massive problems with the proxy too. So
the conclusion was, to disable the proxy for all machines
Our administrator does not know any version running on that securepoint

Just today we installed a new ubuntu server 11.10 for testing an OpenERP
instance.
And again i run into that problem...
I provide a update.log as attachment.
The commands were:
:~# echo $http_proxy
http://10.1.0.240:8080
:~# echo $HTTP_PROXY
http://10.1.0.240:8080
:~# apt-get update -o
Oh, and following setting is in /etc/apt/apt.conf
:~# cat /etc/apt/apt.conf
Acquire::http::Proxy http://10.1.0.240:8080;;

and see how that goes?
