3.0 kernel and ocelot stops booting at the purple screen (no icons) on
pc as well, 32 bit. Have GEForce 550 card.
Even the installer CD won't boot.

fact, the kernel booted fine afterwards.

hi,
i tried exactly as described and changed to text mode.
i have a few lines that boot, but quickly the screen turns black, and nothing
more happens.
it was too quick to take a picture, but the screen went black after something
like system 00:01: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0c02
Ok. May be you have some problem with the nvidia proprietary module, can
you try to disable or remove nvidia proprietary driver? I don't know how
you installed, probably you can disable it with jockey (jockey-gtk or
jockey-text).
