Thus there is little chance this will ever get fixed.

(8.04) with kdebase = 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu7.2

It is still the same here with a fresh install of Kubuntu 7.10 gutsy
(includes KDE 3.5.8 now).
BTW - Gentoo with KDE 3.5.7 is ok and even with 3.5.5 or 3.5.6 there were no
problems.
Steps to reproduce:
Did a fresh, clean install of Kubuntu 7.10.
Added ksysguard-applet to kicker with signal-

Upgraded here to feisty meanwhile. It still happens here too.
