It does seem like these claims are dubious. Snes9x is still updated upstream and has a public github repository, while the zsnes upstream hasn't changed in almost 5 years. Claiming zsnes is an alternative clearly suggests personal preference, as it doesn't nearly approach the same accuracy as Snes9
