I have the same issue as well.
System locks up when windows shares are mounted. It becomes really slow when
opening my home directory. Eventually it just times out. From terminal I try a
ls command and the cursor stays blinking until i have to force stop the samba
daemon:

Even though the kernel doesn't crash anymore I do have the same issues as #22
when the connection with the Windows server on which resides the CIFS mount has
any hiccups. My system doesn't lock up but issuing a ls command on the CLI or
opening my home directory with my file manager doesn't

When the share becomes inaccessible (my home router crashes often) most apps
hang indefinitely (including plasma desktop).

With the 3.0.0-13 kernel I have no more issues regarding CIFS. I do have
a new issue, now with Fuse. I'll open a new report for it.

using pam_mount to mount a share on a WIndows 2008 server.
