The problem appears to be SOLVED.
I commented out the last line of the fstab that mounts an nfs file share
(thanks to the suggestion of user roadmr).
Restarted and now after 3 attemps of suspending and hibernating worked without
any problems.

Bad news. After a series of attempts apparently it's not working again.
