I don't use IMAP, but my Thunderbird often freezes when I receive a
multi-meg .CSV or .SQL file. Thunderbird shouldn't try to render
attachment inline if they're larger then N bytes (for some reasonable N
value)

I am experiencing this all the time now. The difference is that I am dealing
with large .csv files all the time.
This could be fixed by having thunderbird *not* display .csv and .sql
attachments inline in messages, and just treat them as an attachment.

I have narrowed it down and believe I know what is causing it.
TB is not hanging permanently, but it will take several minutes to
recover. Here's how you can re-create the issue:
create a very large text file, for example a backup of a mysql database (sql,
plain text). I was able to replicate

I have upgraded to Ubuntu 6.10 - the Edgy Eft, and I have deleted the
emails in question by accident, but here are some more details.
The messages were plain text. They were very large messages, coming from
CVS commits. I imagine the messages were dozens of pages long.
