After upgrade from Lucid (completely clean, just-formatted install from newest iso - 10.04.4) to Precise (of 20120224 - filed bug next day): No kernel was 'running' because Lucid's kernel (2.6.32-38-generic its complement recovery) was the only kernel available to select to boot from grub but

12.04 is the last release that will support non-PAE. The default (and boot) kernel for 12.04 32 bit is now the PAE kernel, so there is no easy way to install a non-PAE kernel. We are only providing an upgrade path from prior releases. ** Tags added: precise ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
