Thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately I'm no longer using octave,
so I can't report on this anymore. If I am the only one who reported on
this, I would assume that it was indeed a misconfigured system that
caused it and consider this bug resolved.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I am unable to reproduce this bug on Ubuntu 12.04 by
removing and reinstalling the octave3.2 package.
I notice that you have the fglrx package installed. This package should
be providing the libGL.so.1 library
