restart button has no effect

I was able to reproduce this problem from a fresh boot. The steps are
as follows:
1. After restart, log in. (Xubuntu session)
2. Select Lock screen from the menu in the upper right corner.
3. When the screen is locked, select Switch User to be returned to the login
screen.
At this point, if

The problem seems to come and go. I have not seen it again since I
filed the bug. Maybe it was fixed by a recent update. When it has
failed previously, the steps that lead to the problem are:
1. Install updates from update-manager.
2. Click the restart button when prompted by update-manager
Thank you for your bug report, do you have users logged in when that
happens? Could you go to a vt and run ck-list-sessions and copy the log
here? Does it happen all the time, after a fresh boot as well?
