according to sonar.desktop in gnome-screensaver, it uses
Exec=sonar -root
To execute, not TryExec=xscreensaver
Worth testing in other environments though - i'd hate to see this fixed

way to fix this. This is just a hack until some things with nautilus and
hal are fixed up, but you can try this:

The fix won't affect GNOME/XFce since it only modifies the KDE Hooks
which are contained only by the kscreensaver-xsavers package.
The fix doesn't modify the files in the /usr/share/gnome-

I run Ubuntu on my laptop and I almost always hibernate, simply because
the system boots so much faster that way. As for the UI noise, it's
not critical in terms of system stability, but it's one of the first
things you get to see when resuming the system; probably not the best
first impression...
Perhaps you should report this directly in the GNOME bugzilla (product
epiphany).

I have the same problem after upgrade from dapper beta to dapper release : The
update notifier doesn't show up anymore. The update notifier daemon is running
and I can still hear the hard disk activity that usually precedes the
update-notifier pop-up, but it doen't show.

I confirm this. The Time and date Settings askes to install the ntp

The problem is now only seen if you start the PC with the device plugged in.
Once you unplug it and re-insert it, then the correct udev rule is called,
device (/dev/bus/usb/N/M) changed correctly, etc.

On further investigation, I was able to make the NIC work by moving it
to a different PCI slot. However, the Creative sound card then stopped
working with the same error (-16). If three PCI cards were installed,
two of them would work. Therefore the solution was to install an old
network card and
funny enough, as already mentioned all together the channels do not play except
the front left/rights.
However in xmms for instance if configured under options preferences

Hi... I've tried all suggested above and I'm still spewing blank sheets.
I'm actually using a Xerox XK50cx Workcentre (via USB) which works
better on Windows with the Lexmark Z53 driver!
I've now downgraded using

There are two problems with flashplugin-nonfree.
a) In sh, you must not return/exit negative values.
b) /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox is a symlink to /usr/lib/firefox; thus trying to
set a symlink in *both* directories will of course not work.
This patch fixes both problems.

If one tried to run exifautotran on a jpeg-file that contains an exif
thumbnail the image itself gets transformed properly according to exif
information, but the exif thumbnails does not.

The sysfs new_id hack also works perfecly for me on a 3CRWE154G72 PCMCIA
card.
¿Is there any way to make this change persistent between reboots without
recompiling the kernel?.
The prism54 needs to be loaded before setting the pci-id to the sysfs
node.

One simple solution to fix the problem with the long timeout after
resume would be to prevent the mentioned modules from getting loaded by
the kernel. I added the following two lines to my
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist:
blacklist sdhci
blacklist mmc_core
