Kernel panic attached. Nvidia module is involved, and the panic happens
during boot, perhaps at Xorg start, I don't know. I can provide the
entire kernel log if necessary.
I still have a blank screen, no cursor. I am able to connect to the
machine, and ctrl-alt-del does reboot.

I think this was good research including investigation of reverse build

After reading bug #60621, I don't know if this bug is really a duplicate
of it. On my machine, usplash is working correctly, it is just using a
mode 1280x1024 @80Hz, which is not supported by my screen (it only

you not being able to start Xserver has nothing to do with the USplash
resolution bug. the Usplash resolution bug either allows you to see some
of the Usplash or none of it, the system will still boot.
If this bug caused your Xserver to fail, then I think you need to open a
different bug on that

Yes, I have no error messages either, just a blinking cursor and no
other stuff. There is no sign for segfault either in kernel log buffer
(dmesg), and before launched gdm but after having console login, I can
log in and check output of top: usplash is running but uses all
otherwise idle CPU ...

Do the crashes happen if the german guy created a new user and used that
one? this might solve the problem. also, trying to start firefox from
the command line and watch what it says after the crash might help.

that error message isn't an issue. There is a fix released and recent
