I see the same thing on Edgy (near RC). It's the slow keys dialog that
does it. I have sticky keys enabled and when I open Gedit after this
dialog pops up I am not able to type into it before it's closed.
I agree that these dialogs are generally bad and need to be redesigned.

This is fixed by using the "auto-dev" protocol and /dev/psaux as the
device. This causes the driver to automatically use the correct event
device node. This bug should be closed.

There's an out-of-tree kernel module called "omnibook":

It adds lots of cool ACPI stuff for a variety of laptops, including the

It seems that you're right, but it is apache2 that is up/downloading. The bug
ceased to show up after killing apache2 (which is run as root).
Maybe this version of the bug is caused by changing the owner of /var/www to

I have just updated my Dapper to KDE 3.5.5 wich is announced to support sudo in
kdesu.
Kde su does not hang anymore, but it asks for password everytime (it does not
keep sudo time)

I think we're going to commit Tollef's change for now. We're going to
release in two weeks and will make it nice and pretty for Edgy+1 - I'll
have another look at the upstream CVS for the dbus fix though.

Unfortunately, CLK_TCK != CLOCKS_PER_SEC. sysconf(_SC_CLK_TCK) should
