I can confirm this bug is also present in Kubuntu Edgy. Also, the
installing gstreamer-tools and running gst-launch fixes the problem, but
this is still a bug that should be fixed (Banshee is broken out of the
box on anything but ubuntu-desktop).

May I ask what the big advantage of UUIDs is, since it causes so many
problems? Updating my server from Dapper to Edgy led to it using the
wrong / partition altogether!!! And there was no sign of my /
partition in /dev/disk/by-uuid!

Erik, thank you for the tip. I did rm -r on .azureus in my home directory.
and azureus started, and worked for a while, then POOF, it SEGV'ed again, at
the same place. Seems like the culprit is libglibjni-0.4.so, but I don't know
how to fix it. Here are the beginning of 2 crash logs. In
nota : after reinstallation of linux-restricted-modules-generic, my wifi
connection works fine now.

using the 32bit desktop 6.10 iso I could not install to a disk already
formated to ext3 containing *only* /root and /home without selecting
the reformat switch.
on my other desktop, I installed the 64bit alternate 6.10 iso under
the same conditions and it worked perfectly.

Exactly the same happened to me. Does this mean that the upgrade to 6.10
did not finish? I'm noticing mysterious segfaults and graphics
acceleration for my Radeon X300 no longer works.

Big diferences are when you have enabled bytecode interpretr. All
aplications have nice fonts (specially msttcorefonts), but openoffice
have ugly. I add screenshot.

I second Stefan's opinion: Backported patches are preferable to
importing a new upstream version wholescale. Would you please work with
upstream [if you're not directly involved in its development] to break
out the patches with clear explanations of their fixes?
