[Bug 29706] Re: [patch] prism2 firmware is not loaded
The Ubuntu developers don't seem to have time to review and apply my patches. (And the only developer I know with such a card is not interested in firmware loading). It would maybe help if people like you test them out and report here. For the NetworkManager patches, they are not even applied upstream AFAIK. If NetworkManager is important for Ubuntu, maybe they should be applied anyway, after some testing. But that will probably have to wait until Feisty+1. I will post some patched modules for testing once Feisty is released. Note that the NetworkManager patches for the prism2_usb module have to go in the kernel, not (only) in linux-wlan-ng. -- [patch] prism2 firmware is not loaded https://launchpad.net/bugs/29706 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 85488] Re: Canon Lide25 (plustek backend) scanner does not scan via gui
I have recompiled the ubuntu feisty kernel disabling the 'USB selective suspend/resume and wakeup' option, but in my case the problem remained. With my HP ScanJet 4070 (hp3900 backend) xsane freezes while triyng to find the device. xscanimage, instead, works if the correct device name is supplied. I then used strace to see what happens with xsane and found that it was continuosly writing to /dev/parport0: ... open(./geniusvp2.conf, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open(/etc/sane.d/geniusvp2.conf, O_RDONLY) = 6 fstat64(6, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=877, ...}) = 0 mmap2(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0xb7329000 read(6, # geniusvp2 backend configuratio..., 4096) = 877 read(6, , 4096) = 0 close(6) = 0 munmap(0xb7329000, 4096) = 0 open(/dev/parport0, O_RDWR) = 6 ioctl(6, PPCLAIM, 0x825a1c8) = 0 ioctl(6, PPGETMODES, 0xbf98baac) = 0 ioctl(6, PPWCONTROL, 0xbf98ba80) = 0 ioctl(6, PPWDATA, 0xbf98ba80) = 0 ... ioctl(6, PPWDATA, 0xbf98ba80) = 0 ioctl(6, PPSETMODE, 0xbf98ba80) = 0 write(6, \0, 1) = 0 write(6, \0, 1) = 0 ... write(6, \0, 1) = 0 write(6, \0, 1) = 0 write(6, \0, 1 unfinished ... Finally I found that removing the 'ppdev' kernel module (rmmod ppdev) solved the problem. This module was not automatically loaded in edgy, but I have read that it has been introduced in feisty to allow automatic detection of parallel printers. I tried this also for an Epson Perfection 1260 (plustek backend) and it works too. So maybe that the problem is not the 'USB selective suspend/resume and wakeup' option but the 'ppdev' kernel module. -- Canon Lide25 (plustek backend) scanner does not scan via gui https://launchpad.net/bugs/85488 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 99900] Network driver 'ipg' isn't handling mDNS as expected
Public bug reported: I have an onboard network interface, described by lspci as: Ethernet controller: Sundance Technology Inc / IC Plus Corp IC Plus IP1000 Family Gigabit Ethernet (rev 41), and use the 'ipg' kernel module (in ubuntu/net/ipg/ inside ubuntu kernel tree). The normal network functionality seems ok, but I found out that avahi-discover wasn't showing other people published services. Looking in Google I also found out that some drivers have buggy support for local multicast as used by Zeroconf. The workaround is adding to eth0 'stanza' in /etc/network/interfaces pre-up ifconfig eth0 allmulti, to 'force' the interface process all multicast packets. Even the solution make everything work fine, I think some investigation in the module code would be good to check if something is wrong/unimplemented there. No, it's exactly the same here. wacdump sees the tablet, but xidump doesn't (thus neither Gimp nor any other X program can see it). And the stylus only moves the cursor on part of the screen. [Bug 99908] The ext3 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI1 (0, 0, 0) (sda) failed.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity Testing installation from Kubuntu daily build 20070401. Test system HP Pavilion N5472 20GB HDD 256MB RAM Started installer from desktop icon. At disk partitioning step selected 'guided - use entire disk'. Proceeded through steps 5 and 6 then clicked the install button. System displays an 'Installing System' box with a progress bar. Progress bar gets to 5% then a message box appears with the message: The ext3 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI1 (0,0,0) (sda) failed. Clicking on OK on this message box drops me back to the disk partitioning page. If I select 'guided - use entire disk' again I get the same result. I will post /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman. Is anything else required? At the start of today the HDD of this system had a working installation of Xubuntu feisty on it from an earlier daily build test. Earlier today I used the same CD that generated the above error to install Kubuntu selecting 'guided - auto-resize' as the partitioning method. At this point I had working installations of both Xubuntu and Kubuntu on this system. It's only if I try to use the entire disk that installation fails. The md5sum of the ISO checks out and 'Check CD for defects' returned no errors. Just ask if any other info is required or if you want extra tests tried. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- The ext3 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI1 (0,0,0) (sda) failed. https://launchpad.net/bugs/99908 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 90206] Re: liferea shutted down
I have the same problem with liferea 1.2.10b-0ubuntu1 in feisty When you click on a folder liferea sometime it crash with this output: ** ERROR **: file itemlist.c: line 172 (itemlist_load): assertion failed: (NULL != itemSet) aborting... [Bug 99346] Re: [feisty] Ooo 2.2 wrong inactive Copy icon in Industrial icon theme
I found another two places where icons are ugly. In Edit menu and in Navigator panel. See the attachment. ** Attachment added: Edit menu and Navigator panel icons http://librarian.launchpad.net/7101001/Ooo_industrial_icon_err2.png -- [feisty] Ooo 2.2 wrong inactive Copy icon in Industrial icon theme https://launchpad.net/bugs/99346 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 99908] Re: The ext3 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI1 (0, 0, 0) (sda) failed.
Update: Following the error noted above I cancelled the install and shutdown the liveCD from the main menu. Now when I go to boot the system it fails to boot. I just see the following Grub loading, please wait... Error 22 So it looks as if the installer got as far as erasing the existing OSs. Not sure how relevant this is I just thought I'd add it for completeness of information. This isn't a problem for me since I only use that box for testing anyway but it could be a problem for someone else. -- The ext3 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI1 (0,0,0) (sda) failed. https://launchpad.net/bugs/99908 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 79003] Re: Please build with libcolorblind
This is either 'Fix Released' or 'Rejected' now. Thanks for building with libcolorblind (so I'm marking it fixed :) ). The spec has been deferred so we won't try to implement the UI. We are taking a new approach in Feisty+1 with Beryl (and have a GSoC project lined up for that). ** Changed in: gnome-mag (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info = Fix Released -- Please build with libcolorblind https://launchpad.net/bugs/79003 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 99917] aMule 2.1.3-1Ubuntu2 crashes while downloading IPfilter file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: amule aMule 2.1.3-1Ubuntu2 fails to read the IPfilter file from it's directory and crashes when downloading one from a webserver. Using aMule version 2.1.3-1 from the Debian repositories avoids both bugs, but that version eats a lot of CPU power in Feisty (way more then it does in Edgy). While trying to read the IPfilter file from the the HD, the aMule log states: 2007-04-01 23:04:38: Loading ipfilter.dat files. 2007-04-01 23:04:39: Error: Failed to convert file /home/tdr/.aMule/ipfilter.dat to Unicode. 2007-04-01 23:04:39: Failed to load ipfilter.dat file '/home/tdr/.aMule/ipfilter.dat', could not open file.
