Hi,
I think I just solved the problem and it was KDE-related (Konsole,
Konqueror...). Apparently the locale-settings were screwed. After running 'sudo
dpkg-reconfigure locales' and 'sudo apt-get install localeconf' the problem was
solved (don't know which one did the trick though) by restarting
