I used 7.04 i386 desktop beta release and also tried 7.04 i386 beta
server both did't work.
Using Sarge 3.1 R0 works using Kernel 2.4.? - I also read, that the older
distris (using the older Kernel?) are
working on the megaraid i4 - also my SuSe 9.0 did, the 9.3
Confirmed here too. The above solution is not practical on a production
network where other workstations need to access the network. The above
solution would involve physically moving the machine to a separate
network and may not be practical in many situations.

yes, it does seem inconsistently (in terms of where it craps out) consistent
and coincidental with the version error message.
I'm relieved. Is there a way to merge all the bugs so we can all see
the progress on the central issue no matter how we found it?

I can confirm this. After I made a disupgrade today the boot stops with
kernel 2.6.20-14-generic. It reports something like a sector mismatch
for the harddrive. Falling back to kernel 2.6.20-13 works for now.

I'm having the same issue w/a Dell Inspiron 5160. The boot process hangs
at the USB detection stage and then drops to busybox. I tried going back
to the last kernel but the same thing happened. Not an emergency for me
as this is a play system.

It seems to be permission related for both ntfs-3g and fat32. If you
mount NTFS without the use of any of uid, gid, umask, fmask and dmask
