I ran into this same problem this morning when I updated my synaptics
driver. I'm running on Gutsy on a Dell inspiron e1405. Uninstalling
the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics causes gnome-settings-daemon to run
just fine. I have never reported a bug before so I'm not sure if I need

I've applied the fix that just hit the repositories. It worked however I
am unable to launch gnome-appearance-properties now. In fact, my
terminal font is so small that I've had to copy and paste this error
into gedit :-)

I had that problem a while back too. A simple re-focus fixed it.
I now have a new problem however and it deals with the Window Title not
drawing itself what-so-ever.

In my system the TV output is already disabled (without the above lines in
xorg.conf). Running xresprobe intel does not give the colored blocks.
