1 - The sound mixer is poorly configured by default. This happened to me in
earlier versions as well. While I can hear the sounds, rather than climb or

Same problem here (1.25 gHz eMac, black screen, xorg.conf tweaking
(refresh/sync rates, ConnectorTable, MacModel, disabling modules) didn't

I had this problem as well. But I changed the xserver conf and this stopped my
Kubuntu 7.10 from booting. After switching back to the old xorg.conf the system
started just like before.

I added linux-source-2.6.22 since this problem also affects Gutsy.
I tried the workaround Sebastian Kemper posted and it worked for me on a
nvidia nforce2 intel based motherboard. Can't this patch find its way
into ubuntu kernel? What are the problems other unaffected users can
have using this
