I am experiencing similar behaviour running Hardy on a Lenovo z61p
laptop with Mobility FireGL V5200 VGA controller and the ATI accelerated
graphics driver in dual head mode with a separate desktop on the

It seems to me, some people using eee pc's, adaptec raid cards models 2410sa
and 2610sa, usb drives.

When switching from list view to icon view visual corruption of
background appears. This did not start out this way, occurred after a
few hours of intermittent use. The background is using a wallpaper. I

be detected more intelligently. Maybe compiz should not be enabled by
default for non-nvidia cards until this problem is fixed.

it does not return any JRE.
However it is possible to install ure and replace

I just wondered because I have Hardy loaded on three PC's and the only
one that was effected by this problem was the one I was using Evolution
on. It could be Network Manager because the first time the bug appeared

(https://edge.launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive). This has therefore
been fixed upstream, and hopefully we'll get a backport or SRU for Hardy
(see bug #153572).

Just encountered a variant of this in Hardy this morning. I had a single
FAT 16 partition USB flash drive connected to my computer. For some
reason at boot up fsck was seeing it as /dev/sdb; normally my first hard
drive is mounted at /dev/sda , my second hard drive is /dev/sdb , and
since Hardy

Using xemacs - 21.4.21-1ubuntu3 on a clean hardy amd64 installed. When I
maximize xemacs, various elements in its display flicker (esp. the
XEmacs logo and the scratch buffer tab on top). CPU usage goes to 100%,

does not always work.

I played around with visualisation settings in KDE4 and, when logging

I have installed ubuntu-8.04-alternate-i386.iso and no problems with the
hal when I use it.
But my PC frozen in when I look TV or the PC is waiting (Pause - Power

I have had this problem but have found a work around. BBC Radio Player
produced garbled sound in Hardy Beta, Release Candidate and in the final
release version. I installed Firefox 2 and uninstalled and reinstalled
the gstreamer plugins and the BBC radioplayer works perfectly in Firefox
2. Firefox

It seems that the bug I experience is still related to bad resizing
interaction with the window manager.
If I trace X events to xemacs with xev, and then click on maximize so
that xemacs goes into its endless flickering loop, then after the
first few events, the following two events are repeated

Cannot attach logs. Reinstall of OS after bug occurs is the only
solution thus far found.
Currently running fresh install at 1250x768 with nv drivers, since
installing nvidia drivers will immediately kill OS.

I suppose in some sense that's what I'm asking for, although ensuring
the order shouldn't be my responsibility. It's not reasonable to expect
a user to know when he saves his session that he must reorder things so
that Compiz starts first.

I have done what you have suggested. Now urlclassifier2.sqlite is absent
and urlclassifier3.sqlite is 9216 bytes as you have said.
Firefox is quiet and responsive now. I will post if there are any
changes.

My laptop use a Realtek RTL8139!!!
Instaled Ubuntu 8.04 and No network access, the Kernel know my network
card, no apparent errors in log systembut no Work.
