Given that we're verifying Kubuntu's Guidance Power Manger in this bug,
I think it's not at all suprising that the KDE change didn't fix the
Gnome user's problem. I'd vote irrelevant. Personally I've seen
considerable improvement from this fix and I don't actually have the
problematic hardware.
A single update this morning (libpq5) hung. I know straight away whether
it's going to work or not because if it's going to work I get asked for
the root password. If I don't get asked, it hangs.
Personally, my feeling is perhaps the problem is not in the update
manager itself (hence most people b

I think it might have something to do with how busy the computer is at
the time - possibly in disk I/O. Could it be that if a disk-intensive
task is active when the track starts playing, Amarok thinks there's a

This is partially fixed in Wine since 0.9.60. Starting a .msi file with
"Wine Windows Emulator" works. wine.desktop only needs to be updated to
report that it can handle .msi files (this also involves creating mime
types iirc).

Ok, EVERY TIME I change the background of a slide or change the autofit
of a background on a slide, Impress rearranges all of my photo
objects!!! This is absurd! OpenOffice 2.4.1, and it does this?!

"convoluted processes" just to restore my network work after a kernel

Steve Langasek, I confirm that I am forced to use 2.6.20-16 (I looked
again: the last digit before the "-" is a 0, not a 4). All I know is
that Suspend and Hibernate worked well in 7.10 (not just 7.04), but
broke only after upgrading to Hardy. So if this is not a Hardy issue,
then what is it?

Interesting... with iommu=soft, suspend/hibernate/resume works, but it
seems to confuse the graphics card driver. My laptop has a Nvidia
GeForce Go 7600 (256MB), and before suspending, adjusting brightness
with nvclock works just fine. After resuming, the display is at maximum
brightness and nvc
This also happens in Impress, and I would guess all Openoffice apps. It
makes scrollbars completely useless.
