I can confirm the same problem exists with the Linux 2.6.24-20-generic
#1 SMP Mon Jul 28 13:49:52 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux kernel.
No wireless networking with irw2200. It works with irqpoll turned on,
but then other things make using ubuntu problematic such as sluggish
performance across the board

I think it has to do with the tooltips. I get the blanking screen only
when I am full screen and I hover over a button.

this is driving me crazy...my laptop works great...i don't get it. You
would think the desktop would work with Ubuntu with even less problems

I too have seen this bug in Hardy, the fix suggested by Hammer works in
Hardy too.
It may seem strange to the developers that someone would plug in a

I have it working when I boot off an installed drive, but it does not work
with the LiveCD of 8.04.

on the last character of the line) and broke the much more likely case
