However, I dont think there is any problem with RAM or the DVD drive.

I concur that it is indeed broken. As ardour is something I use alot
this should be addressed. I am downloading SVN version and compiling it
to see if I can get it back.
I saw this on both ardour and ardour-i686 packages as well.
