As I've pointed out earlier changing the alsa-utils file haven't solved
my problem (I didn't installed the proposed update). Though this has
solved my problem:

I earlierly reported working Skype and Cheese using libv4l-0 v 0.5.3
After upgrade to v 0.5.6 this broke fully, and I was lucky to have the

-i package.deb) ...
I now use 0.5.3 again ang happily using Cheese and Skype.

to solve the problem when you are using new ati-drivers (fglrx). This
way changes are transferred to xorg.conf. I don't really understand that

Hi, updated to 2.6.27-10 but still the same old story.
While new kernels are being released, I am forced to use a kernel that is
everyday older.

The menu dissapear. It seems, that the Text is in the wrong layer
(behind the window). Without Compiz everything works fine.
