[Bug 234114] Re: Stopmotion dies with segmentation fault

2009-02-27 Thread Bellegarde
Hi everyone,

under hardy's 64bits ubuntu studio, stopmotion 0.6.0-1 crash at the
startup with :

laur...@laurent-laptop:~$ stopmotion
ioctl: VIDIOCGCHAN(channel=0;name="";tuners=0;flags=0x0

Argument invalide
ioctl: VIDIOCGMBUF(size=0;frames=0;offsets=0): Argument invalide
Erreur de segmentation

Same trouble as the other users. It's very important for ubuntu and
ubuntu studio to find a solution to allow users to access this software,
because stopmotion tutorials/sessions are improving a lot in France, and
we don't have any useable solutions under ubuntu...

Is it possible to correct the deb package as soon as possible under LTS
release ?

[Bug 278471] Re: Screen flickers or blanks every 10 s with KDE4

2009-02-27 Thread haarcuba
Hi Everybody: I think there is a solution without killing krunner. When
I killed krunner it did stop flickering, but on my machine there is also
another way: just uncheck the "start automatically" box for the screen
saver in the Desktop Settings (available via System Settings).

The flickering is gone and I can use krunner, yay!

For a screen saver, I use xscreensaver (I put it in an Autostart
script).

[Bug 330788] Re: Newer kernels on thinkpad laptop do not boot

Hi Ronald,

What happens if you don't pass any kernel parameters when you try to
boot (ie remove the "notsc" and "clocksource=hpet" options).

Also, care to test the latest pre-release for Jaunty 9.04 (currently
Alpha 4). It contains a newer 2.6.28 based kernel and it would be good
to know if this issue still exists. You should be able to test booting
with a LiveCD - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . Please let
us know your results. Thanks.

[Bug 331608] Re: Rhythmbox unresponsive when deleting music from ipod

2009-02-27 Thread Jonathan Lumb
removing files in nautilus is fine - basically the problem is that
whilst it is deleting files from the iPod in Rhythmbox the program
becomes incredibly slow or unresponsive - which I would consider to be
undesirable and buggy behaviour. Likewise, when adding files to the
iPod, Rhythmbox is incredibly slow and unresponsive.

[Bug 332512] Re: LastFM - only plays the first song

2009-02-27 Thread Jonathan Lumb
To reproduce the bug you need to do the following:

1.Select a few tracks from your music library and right click on them --> Add
to Playlist
2.Click on the LastFM icon in the sidebar and load up a station (for example
"Artists similar to commix") by double clicking on it. Rhythmbox will load up a
playlist for that station below the list of stations on the top half of the
screen but instead of playing these items it will play the items in Rhythmbox's
main playlist. Occasionally it will play the first item in the LastFM playlist
but after finishing this it then moves onto Rhythmbox's playlist.

Is anybody else able to recreate this?

[Bug 335320] [NEW] Evince unable to open zip/rar comic files

2009-02-27 Thread Viktor Kojouharov

[Bug 335325] [NEW] With KDE 4.2, HTTP authentication dialog username cannot be changed

2009-02-27 Thread Rémi Denis-Courmont
Public bug reported:

Since I updated to KDE 4.2 (from 4.1) through intrepid-updates, the HTTP
authentication dialog in Konqueror won't let me select the username
field. As a consequence it is impossible to authenticate any website
using plain HTTP authentication (although it still works for FORM-based
authentication).

It seems the username field is not selectable. When I click on it or use
Tab, the cursor does not show up. Typing on the keyboard has no effect.
The only work around I found is to add the username in the URL
(http://usern...@host/...) manually.

[Bug 335323] Re: (false positive?) [LENOVO 6465CTO] suspend/resume failure

2009-02-27 Thread Matt Zimmerman
One suggestion might be to clean up the pm-utils state file during
shutdown, so that if the user reboots or shuts down cleanly, it won't
trigger a report like this.

However, we still need to find out how I ended up with a state file
indicating the system was suspending, when it was clearly up and
running.

[Bug 325394] Re: [RV770 HD 4850] ATI Radeon HD 4850 not supported - white screen and system freeze

2009-02-27 Thread Christian Convey
I just tried the 9.04 alpha5 live environment, with my HD 8450 card. I
still get the white screen of death, but now I can switch virtual
terminals, so at least I can now access a shell.

Thanks to that new-found ability, I was able to access various files of
interest. I'm attaching them to this report.

[Bug 302596] Re: Evince doesn't print all content of pdf-file to PS-printer but to PCL-printer

2009-02-27 Thread ricardisimo
I'm having similar problems. Evince prints frame borders, but none of
the text inside of them. Meanwhile, on the same comp, same system, same
printer, acroread prints just fine. The truly odd thing is that "Print
Preview" - which produces some variation on "evince_print.ps.BLAHBLAH" -
shows perfectly on screen, but still fails to print properly.

I'm on Ubuntu 8.10; acroread 8.1.3; evince 2.24.1.

HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One, with CUPS, I'm assuming.

P.S. - When I opened the attached PDF with OOo and exported it in place,
the resulting file printed from evince very well (although the text did
not fit together perfectly... not the subject of this thread though.)

[Bug 335331] [NEW] The current build doesn't support GUIDs

2009-02-27 Thread Lauri Niskanen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tremulous

Version 1.1.0-4.1build1 doesn't have support for GUIDs. These are unique
player IDs that helps managing servers. The support can be added by
installing the TJW backport build: http://tremulous.tjw.org/backport/

Many of the servers currently needs the GUID support and since the
Ubuntu package doesn't have that the players must compile the game by
their selves or download the prebuilded package that isn't in deb-
format.

The TJW patch is easy to add and there is no downsides. You will still
be to play with players who don't have a GUID.

I added the patch to the Ubuntu package and posted the results on my
PPA: https://edge.launchpad.net/~ape3000/+archive/ppa

had given up on and forgotten.

I'm sorry I didn't update the bug. I won't be able to test w/jaunty for

[Bug 254370] Re: Inkscape's color choose sliders are shown in gray and it is difficult to choose a color.

2009-02-27 Thread Jon A. Cruz
I've added a work-around for this in the latest Inkscape SVN, however it
is a bug in the gtk-qt-engine theme engine.

It appears that gtk_paint_shadow() was not implemented correctly, and
instead of just outlining a box it fills the box completely, wiping out
any contents. It also does not appear to limit itself to any supplied
clipping rectangles (this might be causing other problems elsewhere)

[Bug 281809] Re: no pics for color sliders in Inkscape

2009-02-27 Thread Jon A. Cruz
It turns out that the gtk-qt-engine theme has problems with
gtk_paint_shadow. The documentation is that it draws around a box, but
that engine fills the area completely, painting over anything already
there.

I added a work-around to draw the colors on top of the shadow. This will
be ugly with some Qt themes, but at least it will get the colors
visible.

[Bug 335335] [NEW] Enable Num Lock return/enter key

2009-02-27 Thread arky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-orca

The Return/Enter key on the Num Lock keypad is the most commonly used by
a blind person than the Enter/Return on the main keyboard. This is the
last key on a desktop keyboard hence very accessible and often used by
blind. But I guess orca assigns special binding to the num pad
return/Enter key hence its unusable. I found many of our blind computer
users find this very difficult to adopt.

[Bug 261441] Re: Suspend mode don't work on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2732

2009-02-27 Thread Adrian Penisoara
I'm sorry to break the good mood here, but I still get problems suspending on
my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2735.
Trying both 8.10 i386 and 9.10 alpha4 desktop live cd's the issue appears
fixed, but:
 * after a few correct suspend requests running live cd at a point the system
is unable to correctly recover (keyboard is no longer working, screen not
updating)
 * immediately after installing from the LiveCD I can solidly reproduce the
problem (blank screen after suspend, from console or X11) --- actually the
sequence is a bit longer: when trying to resume there is a brief "powerup"
sequence then immediately drops power then one second later there is yet
another powerup but remains in blank screen

Let me know what other debugging information you need.

Same bug on Ubuntu Jaunty on a Samsung NC10. lspci gives 02:00.0
Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg
Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01), usually during normal usage of my
computer (I mean not especially after booting)

Something "interesting" is that when this bug occurs, if I make a hot
reboot to Windows XP, this OS seems to work only half of the time :
mouse pointer moves - blocks - moves - blocks - etc, sound plays - stops
- plays - etc, and this for everything.

Weird, I thought I posted that. Must have forgotten to actually press
the "save changes" button. /etc/network/interfaces has not been touched
since installation and contains a grand total of two lines:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

Thanks for the quick replies btw!

My laptop also has STOP, NEXT, PREVIOUS, PLAY/PAUSE for multimedia.

Then there are keys like LOCK, BATTERY, SLEEP, WIFI-OFF, LCD/EXTERNAL,
SUSPEND. Is there a rigorous list anywhere of everything anybody has
stuck on a keyboard, and the state of Linux support for them?

Thankgs, gds, for your comments. As removing the contents of ~/.kde/ did
not change the situation for me (and actually the directory only
contained two files with real settings) our bugs might be different,
therefore I'd suggest to not yet marking them as duplicates.
