Re: [Bug 240565] Re: apport doesn't seem to catch a SIGSEGV in NUT
@Charles: /etc/nut/nut.conf is available and used as of 2.4.1-2, both in Debian (Sid) and Ubuntu (Jaunty). @Martin: if you want to have the full framework running, without having a real UPS, you might want to give a try to dummy-ups. For an example use, look at: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-bugcontrol/qa-regression-testing/master/annotate/257?file_id=testnut.py-20080227144343-m47lrqbrwv3xm20b-1 Basically, just touch /etc/nut/dummy.dev, and put dummy.dev as the port in ups.conf. as Charles told, there is probably a difference between your setup and ours (my tests were done on intrepid though) that justify the crash not being caught. [Bug 255829] Re: 0.7 Network-Manager requests DHCP configuration twice, gets confused and aborts the connection
I still get this bizarre behaviour, though with a slight variation. I get a connection OK, but about a minute or so later, the interface gets another lease from a dhclient that NM started, but nevertheless doesn't regard as a belonging to it (unrecognised PID). NM then *stops* the interface. Really, this is just paranoid. Never mind the fact that NM's starting up multiple dhclient processes - why on earth should NM kill the connection dead when a new lease arrives/is refreshed? -- 0.7 Network-Manager requests DHCP configuration twice, gets confused and aborts the connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/255829 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 255829] Re: 0.7 Network-Manager requests DHCP configuration twice, gets confused and aborts the connection
Better wording... why not accept a lease whereever it arrives from? What seems to be happening is that NM *ignores* the provided lease because it's mistakenly waiting for a lease from a different PID. Things then time out. Easy workaround: just accept the lease. Fix: track them PIDs correctly. -- 0.7 Network-Manager requests DHCP configuration twice, gets confused and aborts the connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/255829 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 337918] Re: python-mechanize doesn't work in python2.6
This bug was fixed in the package python-mechanize - 0.1.11-0ubuntu1 --- python-mechanize (0.1.11-0ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low [ Ken VanDine ] * New upstream release (LP: #337918) - Fix quadratic performance in number of .read() calls (and add an automated performance test). - Add support for Python 2.6: Raise URLError on file: URL errors, not IOError (port of upstream urllib2 fix). Add support for Python 2.6's per-connection timeouts: Add timeout arguments to urlopen(), Request constructor, .open(), and .open_novisit(). - Drop support for Python 2.3 - Add Content-length header to Request object (httplib bug that prevented doing that was fixed in Python 2.4). There's no change is what is actually sent over the wire here, just in what headers get added to the Request object. - Fix AttributeError on .retrieve() with a Request (as opposed to URL string) argument - Don't change CookieJar state in .make_cookies(). - Fix AttributeError in case where .make_cookies() or .cookies_for_request() is called before other methods like .extract_cookies() or .make_cookie_header() - Fixes affecting version cookie-attribute (http://bugs.python.org/issue3924). - Silence module logging's no handlers could be found for logger mechanize warning in a way that doesn't clobber attempts to set log level sometimes - Don't use private attribute of request in request upgrade handler (what was I thinking??) - Don't call setup() on import of setup.py - Add new public function effective_request_host - Add .get_policy() method to CookieJar - Add method CookieJar.cookies_for_request() - Fix documented interface required of requests and responses (and add some tests for this!) - Allow either .is_unverifiable() or .unverifiable on request objects (preferring the former) - Note that there's a new functional test for digest auth, which fails when run against the sourceforge site (which is the default). It looks like this reflects the fact that digest auth has been fairly broken since it was introduced in urllib2. I don't plan to fix this myself. - Fix ImportError if sqlite3 not available - Fix a couple of functional tests not to wait 5 seconds each - Close sockets. This only affects Python 2.5 (and later) - earlier versions of Python were unaffected. See http://bugs.python.org/issue1627441 - Make title parsing follow Firefox behaviour wrt child elements (previously the behaviour differed between Factory and RobustFactory). - Fix BeautifulSoup RobustLinksFactory (hence RobustFactory) link text parsing for case of link text containing tags (Titus Brown) - Fix issue where more tags after title caused default parser to raise an exception - Handle missing cookie max-age value. Previously, a warning was emitted in this case. - Fix thoroughly broken digest auth (still need functional test!) (trebor7...@...) - Handle cookies containing embedded tabs in mozilla format files - Remove an assertion about mozilla format cookies file contents (raise LoadError instead) - Fix MechanizeRobotFileParser.set_opener() - Fix selection of global form using .select_form() (Titus Brown) - Log skipped Refreshes - Stop tests from clobbering files that happen to be lying around in cwd (!) - Use SO_REUSEADDR for local test server. - Raise exception if local test server fails to start. - Tests no longer (accidentally) depend on third-party coverage module - Add convenience method Browser.open_local_file(filename) - Add experimental support for Firefox 3 cookie jars (cookies.sqlite). Requires Python 2.5 - Fix a _gzip.py NameError (gzip support is experimental) * debian/patches/drop-Gopher.dpatch: * removed, fixed upstream [ Martin Pitt ] * debian/control: Fix XS-Python-Version to only build for Python = 2.5. -- Ken VanDine ken.vand...@canonical.com Mon, 09 Mar 2009 16:34:31 -0400 ** Changed in: python-mechanize (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Fix Released -- python-mechanize doesn't work in python2.6 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/337918 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 340409] [NEW] Ubuntu Intrepid cannot be remastered: Ubiquity reports I/O error
Public bug reported: Hallo people, this is critic for me since if I don't solve it, there won't be a new OpenGEU release (I'm the creator of OpenGEU). I'm having troubles remastering Intrepid. I tried using Reconstructor, then UCK and then the official way described in the wiki: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomization What I do is: 1) download the latest Ubuntu 8.10 and rip it. Then I immediately add my repos and gpg key. 2) apt-get update 3) apt-get upgrade 4) completely uninstall Gnome following this command: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde Of course, instead of installing kde, I install opengeu-desktop 5) I install the extra packages for the iso: unrar unace p7zip p7zip-full arj abiword abiword-plugins claws-mail gimp gnome-games gnome-orca xscreensaver libdeskbar-tracker pidgin transmission-gtk vinagre xsane rhythmbox totem-gstreamer gnash jokosher hydrogen avidemux kino streamtuner sound-juicer ubiquity etkchanger firefox That's because in step number 4 ubiquity is uninstalled. 6) apt-get clean and apt-get autoclean 7) I set the default session: rm /usr/bin/x-window-manager ln -s /usr/local/bin/enlightenment_start /usr/bin/x-window-manager Change the files inside isolinux, like the png picture and the menu entries, so that OpenGEU is mentioned rather than ubuntu.. 9) I change the contents of 50mirror ubuntu to add my repos. 10) I change an option into the ubiquity app launcher, so that it is not only shown in gnome and xfce 11) I change GDM, Usplash, etc. 12) Set my prefered files in etc/skel Then I compile the iso and everything goes OK but... when I try to install it with ubiquity, at a certain percentage the installer tells me there's been an Imput/Output error and that this is often due to a bad working CD or Hard Disc... but I'm using an iso and am installing the iso in a Virtual Machine using VMWare Fusion. Note that the normal Intrepid Live CD installs correctly, therefore there is an error. How is it possible? This is the way I always created OpenGEU 'till now. I never had problems except for this Intrepid release. Please help, this is really critical for me. Just for you to know, I tried modifying nothing but language packs, or installing Abiword and removing openoffice alone, to see if the problem was on my packages and not on Ubuntu side. No success. The installation after a remaster fails in ANY CASE I tried. More than this, I even tried to run Ubiquity from terminal but there's no output error, so I cannot understand what's the problem. I hoped I would have had some output using the -d option in ubiquity, but no output at all. It really looks like some parts of the Live CD are unreadable for Ubiquity. I cannot figure out anything else. More details can be found here: http://reconstructor.aperantis.com/i...3id=1266#1266 What really makes me sad is that even manual reconstructing the distro without any automated tool or scripts generates no working installer... why? :_( I really need help people. [Bug 338495] Re: X stops responting/updating, console switching still works
This might look similar to the bug (not reported) I noticed after doing a fresh install of jaunty alpha 4 desktop on ADM64 on a 4GB core2 box. I'm not playing with GL, COMPIZ, didn´t even switch to nvidia drivers yet. Happens when going away for multiple days, after having locked things with vlock -a -s: 1st observation: Xorg presented me with frozen applications (possibly after killing any screen blanker in the way), with urxvt windows not showing text at all, but I still have a moving mouse pointer (though I am unable to change focus) and firefox is still being able to react on mouse clicks. Windowmanager is still metacity forced to a still-more- broken-than-before sloppy focus. -- as firefox is still partially accessible, it´s not an X-server-only issue, but different library stacks are also part of the bug. no chance but to kill X entirely. 2nd observation (while still being away at the moment): vnc just displays the dreaded black screen, only displaying the mouse pointer. (both before and after killing vlock). Nothing of interest in Xorg.0.log at all, except that my old logitech trackball (time to switch and reload NiMH cells, I´d guess) couldn´t be read. This trackball also was the one and only core pointer. The final lines in Xorg.0.log show the configuration of the trackball at time offsets 1, 27380, and finally the loss of the trackball at 36109). I´ll append more when I´m again in front of the console. Bug 338495 looks also like it might be related to X kind of freezing. -- X stops responting/updating, console switching still works https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/338495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
