I installed the fix, and the problem was indeed fixed for all volume related

I guess my problem is related to this one. I also run a very memory-consuming
batch matlab job (through a perl script). The job seems to run without problems
when I am still working on my computer. But as soon as a scrrensaver is
starting the whole system freezes. I have a frozen screensaver on
let's use the same bug that's an upstream issue anyway and should be
sent to bugzilla.gnome.org

I do not know if the problem is really gnome-keyring or who is because
there is no log file that shows it, but the error occurs. If you help
me, I can give you more information to detect the origin of the same
one.

@Matthew -- It does seem that the right drivers are loaded according to
lspci and yet there is no mesaages from the driver in the dmesg output.
Odd. So could we get the lsmod output from the failing kernel and
lsmod, dmesg and lspci -vvnn from the previous working one.

Just for anyone else tracking this issue, I had Etienne test the
following:
1) sudo apt-get install linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-23-generic
2) create a file /etc/hal/fdi/policy/ignore-17ef7802.fdi to look like:
deviceinfo version=0.2
device
match key=usb_device.vendor_id int=6127
this needs to be send upstream to bugzilla.gnome.org

whatever login manager and session script you use doesn't start a ck
session and that's what creates your issue, using ck-launch-session and
running your command then should work
