[Bug 368273] Re: Jaunty 9.04 Blind to XP's Shared Network Printer
Workaround found, but bug remains: I used my Windows box IP address instead of Browsing for the printer. This permitted me to go to the next steps and created a printer, although it didn't work, i.e. the test page didn't print. However, I then clicked a change URI button and it presented another opportunity to Browse. This time browsing found the Windows printer, correctly changed the path and then the test page printed. Screen snapshot is attached. ** Attachment added: 1-Use Window IP instead of browse http://launchpadlibrarian.net/26282891/1-use_ip.png -- Jaunty 9.04 Blind to XP's Shared Network Printer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368273 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

May 1 09:24:59 borriquito syslogd 1.5.0#5ubuntu3: restart. As you see, diferent messages without any relation. The same messages appear in logs sometimes without causing freezing. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups-pdf Possibly an apparmor problem related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/359338 ? System: $ lsb_release -rc Release:9.04 Codename: jaunty $ uname -srvmo Linux 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ dpkg -l cups-pdf|grep ^ii ii cups-pdf 2.5.0-1ubuntu1 PDF printer for CUPS Expected outcome: After adding cups-pdf, user with encrypted ~ should be able to use the newly-generated PDF printer and find files generated in ~/PDF. Failing that, the user should get clear feedback that printing to a PDF file failed. Observed outcome: If no ~/PDF directory exists, nothing happens from the user perspective. [Bug 340573] Re: 343647740
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Is this related to this bug? -- May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858785] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 002c May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858799] IP: [a03ea3a8] i915_gem_execbuffer+0x1e8/0x740 [i915] May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858821] PGD 13a128067 PUD 1379ae067 PMD 0 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858830] Oops: [#1] SMP May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858836] last sysfs file: /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858844] Dumping ftrace buffer: May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858849](ftrace buffer empty) May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858852] CPU 1 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858856] Modules linked in: vmnet parport_pc vmci vmmon i915 drm binfmt_misc ppdev bridge stp bnep input_polldev joydev uinput cdc_acm lp parport thinkpad_acpi snd_hda_intel nvram snd_pcm_oss snd_mixer_oss arc4 ecb snd_pcm snd_seq_dummy snd_seq_oss psmouse zaurus iwlagn iTCO_wdt snd_seq_midi snd_rawmidi snd_seq_midi_event pcspkr serio_raw cdc_ether iwlcore usbnet iTCO_vendor_support snd_seq led_class cdc_wdm mii snd_timer snd_seq_device mac80211 uvcvideo compat_ioctl32 snd soundcore cfg80211 snd_page_alloc videodev v4l1_compat btusb intel_agp video output sha256_generic aes_x86_64 aes_generic cbc usb_storage usbhid dm_crypt e1000e fbcon tileblit font bitblit softcursor May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858961] Pid: 3454, comm: Xorg Not tainted 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858965] RIP: 0010:[a03ea3a8] [a03ea3a8] i915_gem_execbuffer+0x1e8/0x740 [i915] May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858981] RSP: 0018:88013a13ddd8 EFLAGS: 00010202 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858985] RAX: 000e RBX: 000e RCX: 88013904a000 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858989] RDX: 880106c07300 RSI: a03c6d10 RDI: 8801098c26c0 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858994] RBP: 88013a13de58 R08: 00c0 R09: 88012f8e6420 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.858999] R10: 0001 R11: 3246 R12: May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859003] R13: 000e R14: 8801394b1880 R15: 8800aa86cbc0 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859009] FS: 7ff4c1d50700() GS:88013b802d80() knlGS: May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859014] CS: 0010 DS: ES: CR0: 80050033 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859018] CR2: 002c CR3: 00013a12b000 CR4: 06a0 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859023] DR0: DR1: DR2: May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859027] DR3: DR6: 0ff0 DR7: 0400 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859033] Process Xorg (pid: 3454, threadinfo 88013a13c000, task 8801395f2cc0) May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859036] Stack: May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859039] 3a13de08 88003d1cad20 88013a13ddf8 880109857300 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859047] 88013a13de28 88013904a000 88013bd543d0 88013904a028 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859056] 8800b6545200 880106c07300 3a13de58 fff4 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859066] Call Trace: May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859070] [a03c57fa] drm_ioctl+0x10a/0x330 [drm] May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859095] [802106c5] ? __switch_to+0x2a5/0x490 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859108] [a03ea1c0] ? i915_gem_execbuffer+0x0/0x740 [i915] May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859122] [802f631d] vfs_ioctl+0x7d/0xa0 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859132] [8069c55c] ? thread_return+0x37/0x36b May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859142] [802f6685] do_vfs_ioctl+0x75/0x230 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859149] [802f68d9] sys_ioctl+0x99/0xa0 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859156] [802e82a0] ? sys_read+0x50/0x90 May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859165] [8021253a] system_call_fastpath+0x16/0x1b May 3 17:26:03 hostnamex kernel: [ 3517.859172] Code: 00 00 00 00 48 8b 4d a8 c7 81 8c 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 c7 81 90 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 41 8b 47 08 85 c0 0f 84 40 02 00 00 4c 8b 22 45 8b 44 24 2c 45 8b
