I have done another round on this issue, and it seems to be triggered by
the KDE Groupware Wizard. I have a Kolab 2.2 server that I sync with.
Once I have run the wizard (which works fine and syncs with the server),
I see the reported behaviour. This is on Kubuntu 9.04 with all current
updates.

I haven't used Windows for years. I'm not going to burn any CDs in Windows. I
have discovered this bug when I tried to mount and play any commercial audio CD
from music store.
Then I realised that it should affect also CDs burned in Windows. So I tried to
mound some CD which I burned in Windows

Im running Jaunty amd64 on a lg-e500 laptop, and have the same problem: stucks
on calibration. please someone could help me? i've tried all possible sound
configurations and nothing, mi mic works whit audacity and skype
