Yes, I'm seeing a similar issue on folders which have video files.
Terminal will list the files but Nautilus will wait continuously trying to
update the folder.
If I switch Nautilus>Edit>Preferences>Preview to Never Preview, all
files will display.

Neither sl-modem-daemon and timidity were installed.
I installed linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic.
On first reboot I got the login tune but still no sound.
Tried a second reboot, the driver was found and I managed to play some
music.
However, after about 5 minutes the driver was lost
I'll test it later today and report the results.

apport. There are things we could do in Launchpad to work around this,
but it seems likely that Martin will have a fix ready before the next

No, it's meant to be there. So you don't have it, which is ok, because
Xorg moved away from needing one (usually). Create the file and add this
to it:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "radeon"
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"

I then clicked on Sound Preferences and the mere act of clicking the

In my case, logout-and-login trick didn't work for me.

Thanks. So for ageeb the difference is basically nothing (just some
noise due to different enumeration order, which is expected to be pretty
random). For gpstar the diff is that with 6.1 you get a proper
identification of your hard disk (which is one incarnation of what 6.1
was supposed to fix).
