different people to have the same color, but, more importantly, the user
only chooses a hue value for the color. This value is then made readable
by adjusting saturation and value (in a HSV color model) locally at each

When it's done scanning, I find that the guilty folder is /media. Well, of
course, I have a 250GB disk mounted right there. Problem

I noticed a very similar problem: when I put the laptop to sleep, and
later wake it up, it shows the desktop and then sleeps again,
inmediatly. This happens sometimes 2 or 3 times until I can use the
laptop again. It started to happen with 9.10, it did not happen with
9.04 or older Ubuntu

Try in do install on a 2.4 GHz 764Mb 80 Gb HD Intel P4 machine and it
will lock up the entire machine and corrupt the MBR of sda so that I can
not access any OS on any drives. It will install 9.04 but NOT 9.10.
The same version/ ISO of 9.10 will work on a 1.4 GHz P4 Intel
slicks, could you please try installing the 'linux-backports-modules-
alsa-karmic-generic' package and then reboot? Note that you may have to
unmute devices after the reboot as well. This may or may not solve your
issue...
P.S. - avoid removing pulseaudio in the future unless directed to do so.

I've just upgraded to 9.10 from 9.04
My HP LJ2200D was working fine with 9.04 and the version of CUPS that
came with that version (1.3). It is still working from another machine
which is still running 9.04 so there is no problem with the printer.

I've come across this error a lot of times lately, the first time it
drove me to assuming my usb disk was corrupt or some such. This time I
thought it was because lots of other things were broken in the system
(bad upgrade problems from jaunty, using pre-release updates... things

I figured I'd add this in, based on what Alex said on comment #8.
To get a functional stick, I first deleted all partition tables using fdisk
$ sudo fdisk /dev/sdg
and then created a fat32 partition, using full space in gparted.
Doing this, allowed me to select the /dev/sdg1 partition in usb
SilverWave, install notification-daemon and remove notify-osd:
sudo aptitude install notification-daemon notify-osd-
If this wants to remove packages (excluding those starting with lib),
abort the process and run sudo aptitude unmarkauto packages for
them. Then retry it.
