We had 5 vm on this host :
- 1 debian lenny 64 bits (virtio is used for the network and the block device
with qcow2 format and 256Mo RAM is allocated)
- 2 ubuntu jaunty 64bits (virtio is used for the network and the block device

I have the same problem on a Toshiba A200.
This was no issue in 9.04 so clearly a bug as far as I am concerned.
Please fix this, there is a patch around for this acpi thing.
acpi=off as kernel option boots the machine, but then function keys and
powermanagement do not work.

I seem to have a similar problem with my ibm R51. No sound and system
goes in coma - black screen and mouse still visible but fixed - 5 sec.
after I ask for a system test. I hear no beep in boot, so maybe a
hardware error, but I would have liked system test to tell me instead of

havp fails to (re)start because of mounted /var
same for me. I have a couple of calendars hosted on calendarserver in
Jaunty. Because of the new DVB-API (DVB-S2 with vdr) I loved to update
to Karmic (AFAIK calendarserver in Jaunty is broken as well...). But as

I fail to see why it would be a problem with the gst. Wouldn't a line in
/etc/adduser.conf be enough? Even if we handle profiles manually, that
won't prevent new users from being added to the "users" group if adduser

I hope I understood correctly what you wanted to say above.
You shouldn't ever run clamav daemon as root.
How is your havp set up? By default havp uses the clamav library to scan
for viruses, and NOT clamav daemon. Maybe this is why it's working,
because it doesn't use clamav daemon.

Downgrading doesn't seem to function with Umax AstraSlim SE : the
scanner is well recognized but scanimage hangs eternally.
I upload an strace log if this can help.

Exactly the same here. Same graphic card and same problem.
I tried to solve the problem with some combinations of kernel and
drivers. And the results:
kernel 2.6.31-15 + default driver set = freeze
kernel 2.6.31-15 + ubuntu-x-swat set = freeze
kernel 2.6.31-15 + xorg-edgers set = freeze
kernel 2.

I am now using Karmic and still can't safely remove a usb hard drive from

Palimpsest sounds interesting but it is not listed in the kde package manager

"nm-applet" starts, but there is only a grey quadrat instead of the "nm-applet"
symbol at the first session.
Additionally I can't switch between networks because the menu doesn't appaer.
If I run "killall nm-applet" and restart it ("nm-applet --sm-disable"),
it will run!
