I very strongly agree with Sandy about not converting notes back-and-
forth when storing to and retrieving from U1. The converter should only

I still couldn't print well this morning to a networked Brother MFC
7820N, using a plethora of pdf viewers in both Jaunty and Karmic (with
updated related --cups, etc-- packages)
However, I happened across an old forum post where someone with Dapper
used the HP laserjet foomatic driver for this

I have the same issue on a Toshiba Satellite U400. It uses an Intel 4500MHT
graphics chip. The problem occurs since restarting after the update to kernel
2.6.31-15-generic (and whatever came along with that update), but is still
there for kernel 2.6.31-16-generic. Booting in the safe mode
Nim, how did you close Pidgin? Also, are you using the regular Ubuntu,
Kubuntu, or Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR)? Lastly, is this a new behavior,

I think this is the wrong fix - the gdm job shouldn't exit non-zero when
it's configured to not run, it should instead stop cleanly using '|| {
stop; exit 0; }'.

Since failsave-x was enabled in karmic it starts if gdm is disabled and kdm is
used

The functionality provided by that script has been merged in to mountall
now (which cleans /tmp on boot). I don't know why you'd want to clean
/boot. /var/run is a tmpfs on Ubuntu, so the contents of this filesystem
are volatile anyway

throughput, and readahead is moderate.
