I did a test installation of Karmic on another partition and added the
Ubuntu Audio Dev team PPA to get a update to pulseaudio 0.9.21. I was
curious if the problem is fixed in a newer version.

That's what we're trying to figure out, how to tell the daemon best that
SA rules were updated. Right now indeed it makes less sense to run sa-
update when using amavis, but it still makes sense because sometimes
amavis gets restarted for other reasons, and then you'll have the

one, but my University wired network requires me to send my student ID
(e.g. an arbitrary string) as hostname. Uni laptops have their hostname
setup as heir student ID. Of course, I could just setup my hostname as

versions a PDF opened with the settings (page width, side pane or no
side pane) as the last document opened.

I don't know for the touchpad, but it is simple to reproduce the problem
for a normal mouse on the current karmic:
Simply open the configuration editor and activate the left_handed gconf
key and click with the left mouse button some item: the contextual menu
does not appear, but the item gets

Thierry, yes, thanks, I had actually come across both of these.
A couple of points: On the first link ... this same site ran fine on
another 8.04 system with a very similar configuration for 8-9 months
without this error. Secondly, if I have hit a php bug that is
corrupting memory (ie suhosin
did you interrupt the upgrade or something? does reinstalling evince fix
the issue? it works correctly on my install...

When I boot the karmic Koala Desktop CD, the KDE splash screen loops.
During the first loop all icons appear. Then the screen turns black and the KDE
splash screen starts over, displaying the first icon. From now on it loops
endlessly: 1st icon - black screen - 1st icon ...

why would users use the gconf-editor rather than the mouse capplet? it
doesn't seem to be a priority issue...
