Adding to this issue, I just finally got through to Acer Level 2 support
about this BIOS issue with the N280 CPU, and the tech completely
stonewalled on me. She said that it is absolutely not a known issue, and
that the CPU will run at 1.66GHz when it needs to. This is despite the

I have the same problem. The audio CD has no information entered and
will seg fault unless I enter in title information for ever track I want

I'm not behind a proxy.
I could fix this by following an advice I read somewhere. I purged
ubuntune-client and ubuntuone-client-gnome and deleted all ubuntuone
files and folders I found in my home directory (this included hidden
files and folders and ~/Ubuntu One), reboot and installed ubuntuone-
debdiff for jaunty-proposed.

KrazyPenguin, it is known bug and there are several notes about this:
a) This driver is enabled optionally (Restricted drivers require confirmation
from user to install them);
b) PulseAudio team already admitted that it is their fault. Blocking ALSA
subdevice with slmodemd shouldn't block main
There is workaround to this problem. Selecting similar device manualy
with snd_hda_intel module parameter will enable sounds. So it might be
only required to add the cards to autodetection logic.
