Looks like I was a little too fast. The problem still persists, although
it's not as bad as before. The connection still drops out frequently,
but comes back after around 30-60 seconds. I'm not sure what is causing
this, but it's definitively one of the most annoying problems I've had
with Ubuntu
I solved it by reinstalling my system;
But sounds VERY stupid to me to chmod a+r /etc/shadow, as every lamer with John
The Ripper can decrypt your password.

Now I remember I did lots of other changes, Unfortunately I don't
remember exactly what I did, because it was long ago, maybe 1 year or
more, but I'll try to remember:
- I edited the font colors, which weren't used with consistency. And
I confirm the bug on Aspire One 1024x600 with Ubuntu 9.04. No workarounds,
ALT+click can be applied only on the title bar, but the window can't be moved
upward.
When I need to insert a new contact, I just press enter when finished (without
seeing the full data on the window)

I got this problem too. Had no problem with Jaunty at all, but after update to
Karmic some of my colleagues complained about sound sometimes stopping (and
only a reboot would fix it). They said that it mostly occurs when watching
videos in Firefox (I mean Flash based videos like YouTube, etc.).
Ideally, the applet should only show tasks that are due today. A task
list can be long, with the great majority of tasks scheduled for the
more or less distant future.

I use debian lenny and I have met the same problem: the user can not use bitmap
fonts using an appropriate ~/.fonts.conf file. If /var/cache/fontconfig exists
it is used instead of the local one (~/.fontconfig).
I reversed two lines in file /etc/fonts/fonts.conf that define the cache path.

Using the latest version of the bioinformatics template (and karmic), I did

Yes, this is the only solution : our ppa !
In fact there was some bug due to other Karmic packages and some other in CD.
Most of these bug have been fixed a long time ago but we can't update
Cairo-Dock in Karmic, look at this bug #460001 :/
