Heh, there's an obvious UI deficiency here. You weren't supposed to
choose all of the sda options, just the top-level one (/dev/sda, not
/dev/sda1 etc.). I agree that the message is confusing. I wonder if
choosing both partitions and disks contributed to this bug; it certainly

Quite possible, the students are instructed to create a key called
'mykey' in the exercise. With this the problem can be reproduced:
$ euca-add-keypair mykey2 mykey2.priv
$ euca-add-keypair mykey2 mykey2.priv
$ euca-run-instances -t c1.medium -k mykey2 emi-DF481077
$ ssh -i mykey2.priv
OK. Did it. Output is completely distorted. Screen updates are not done

After a few minutes the screen froze. I rebooted, but no way: the system
freezes while gdm starts. With every boot the time I had until it froze
was cut down a bit.

Headphones now shows as a Connecter in Sound Preferences - Output.

Problem upditing grub!!
Hi,
I have kubuntu 9.10. This morning I update the Grub v.1.98 experimental
and now when I reboot and I can't boot with ubuntu or windows xp.

I found a solution at other bug reports regarding the same issue. A
solution for my mic problems was:
1.) install the linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic package
2.) then do a reboot
3.) After reboot start alsamixer (e.g. via terminal)
4.) Ensure that the microfon mixer, for me
I've tried all the latest mainline kernels up to and including 2.6.33rc6
and all have the same issue. I'm a bit stuck now and would be grateful
if anyone could point me at what to try next.

After last upgrade (3 Feb 2010),
after usplash screen (boot time), gdm does not start properly. In particular it
start but to see the screen it is necessary to switch
using CTRL-F7 and I don't understand the sense of this.
