I've found a workaround (you probably know but just incase), completely
remove the top panel where the applets are, reboot (or restart desktop
environment), make a new panel and add everything back on it
Building in a chroot bootstrapped with the fp debs from sid produced the

I'm suffering from the same issue, on an 64bit Lenovo R500 with karmic.
Here is the output of wodim -checkdrive -v

I am using Lyx which uses texlive, on Ubuntu 9.10. Locality Rome, but US
English by default.
I have one file that compiles Fine... Typed everything myself in Lyx
and it has for language setting UNICODE (ucs -Extended) (utf8x)
Another file, Which I wrote in OO and copied pasted gives the error

I have tested this with ubuntuone client 1.0.3-0ubuntu1 (karmic-
proposed).
The syncdaemon does not crash anymore when the system returns from
suspend.
However, in case a file is being uploaded while computer is suspended
then syncdaemon becomes stuck in
STANDOFF_WAITING_WITH_NETWORK_WITH_BOTH

Also, a min upload of 64 kB is really 64 * 8 = 512 kilobites per
second. Most people do not calculate data transfer in kiloBytes and

I see this same problem on 9.10, and the apt-get is running in the
background as well. When the apt-get finishes, update manager will
install the updates with no problems, no restart is necessary.

switched off at boot. Any usb device that is not already plugged in at
boot will not work. (usb hotplug not working).

[K8M800] Screen origin shifted to center, screen wraps, ttyN screens don't
work, on Averatec
I've also verified that it no longer crashes resuming from suspend. I
did not observe a stuck syncdaemon state, but it's reasonable to expect
that there is some connection.
