[Bug 534385] [NEW] Latest update for Freecell took away options for seed.

2010-03-08 Thread Peter Onno
Public bug reported:

I had been doing games in the order of Microsoft-compatible seed number.
That capability seems to have been lost with the latest Ubuntu Karmic

[Bug 534384] [NEW] microphone not working properly in my Acer Aspire 5720

2010-03-08 Thread Tommy Prevatt
Public bug reported:

It will record with the right settings, but it sounds choppy and you can
barely hear it. I have tested it with 'pavumeter --record' and through
the sound test in Skype. I have to turn the internal mic boost all the
way up in 'alsamixer -c n' and then turm the volume all the way up on my
machine to hear the playback, and then you barely hear it.

[Bug 532875] Re: package winbind 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.4 failed to install/upgrade: groupadd: cannot lock /etc/group; try again later.

2010-03-08 Thread Chuck Short
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

So i can update the previous one with various little bits of information that

Lucid this should be reported in a new bug as that will need userspace
support.

[Bug 534386] [NEW] [patch] gtk-recordmydesktop 'select window' does not include frame on compiz

2010-03-08 Thread Dominic Evans
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gtk-recordmydesktop

This patch was already accepted upstream in June 2009 [1]. I thought I'd
already submitted it to Ubuntu as well, but suddenly noticed it is not
included in the package shipping in lucid.

It should just be manually dropped into debian/patches and added to the
debian/patches/series or added using `quilt import`.

Tested and successfully working for me for the last 8 months or so.

2010-03-08 Thread Chuck Short
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 533423] Re: package clamav 0.95.3 dfsg-1ubuntu0.09.04~hardy2.2 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

2010-03-08 Thread Imre Gergely
Thanks for reporting this problem.

As far as I can tell, you did an update from 0.95.3+dfsg-1ubuntu0.09.04~hardy2
to 0.95.3+dfsg-1ubuntu0.09.04~hardy2.2. But it seems like the 'clamav' user
does not exist, and the postinst script of clamav-freshclam gave an error
because of this.
Could you check if you have the user clamav on your system? Try runinning the
command id clamav from a terminal. Did you by any chance remove the 'clamav'
user?

[Bug 534026] Re: Please merge xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.191-1 (main) from Debian experimental (main).

2010-03-08 Thread Benjamin Drung
* The changelog description are the Debian changes since the last sync/merge.
What else should be in the description? Should I mention the Ubuntu changes
since the last sync/merge?
* The removals and creation of
debian/patches/debian-changes-1:6.12.191-1ubuntu1 comes from moving to
dpkg-source 3.0 (quilt) version. Instead of directly modifying the source, the
changes are stored as patch. I wanted to avoid the modification of

[Bug 534397] [NEW] munin plugin suppresses numbers from VM names

2010-03-08 Thread Bernie Innocenti

Binary package hint: virt-goodies

The valid regex should be [A-Za-z0-9_] (with numbers included).

Also, the entire canonicalize() function could be replaced with just one

or even

[Bug 533271] Re: panel xthickness and ythickness gtkrc parameters lead to strange artifacts with load monitor panel applet

2010-03-08 Thread Davide Lasagna
I've tested the content of the branch. I think that you should change
for both Radiance and Ambiance themes this setting:

style panel {

xthickness = value
ythickness = value

bg[NORMAL] = #faf7ee
bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = panel_bg.png
engine murrine {
roundness = 0
}
}

xthickness and ythickness should have a value of one for the best
appearance.

For the Ambiance theme this was set to 0 and 0 (x and y thicknesses).
For the Radiance them it was still 4 and 0.

Still needs some little tweak.

Cheers
Davide

[Bug 373367] Re: Pointer goes offscreen on non-rectangular dual-head

2010-03-08 Thread ehjay
I think this problem is more generic. I have an ATI x1400 using the
radeon driver on Ubuntu Karmic and I see the same problem.Right
screen is laptop 1920x1200. Left screen is 1280x1024 LCD. I have the
pointer issue, but also the window manager places desktop icons off
screen. If I place the screens so that they join at the top corner I
can't see icons (and desktop applets) that are at the bottom. Vice
versa if I join the screens at the bottom corner. The WM thinks I have
a 1280x1200 desktop with a 1280x1024 fixed view. Further, if I unplug
the external display, the WM continues to operate as if the display was
attached and new applications are frequently launched on that display
and I have no access to them. I see my comment here is the same as
Necrathex. I believe the original report here is a symptom of a larger
problem. Fix that larger issue and alot of these symptoms will go away.
Hopefully this problem can be addressed for the next version of Ubuntu.
I have yet to see any of the bugs I have filed in the last few years to
be addressed.

[Bug 533548] Re: rhythmbox-applet checkbox inconsistency

2010-03-08 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
This is partly a Rhythmbox problem and partly a theme problem.

The Rhythmbox problem is that it has always regarded Play as something
you turn on and off, rather than as the opposite of Pause (bug 71228).

The theme problem is that menus should have checkmarks, not checkboxes,
i.e. should not be cluttered by checkbox borders. (The same is true for
radio buttons.)

[Bug 532733] Re: apt/dpkg in qemu-system-arm hangs if a big task is installed

2010-03-08 Thread Oliver Grawert
sadly all versions of qemu system-arm expose this in lucid ...

over the weekend i tried all qemu.-system-arm binaries we have in the
archive going backwards in history up to the first karmic version ... i
also tried the versatile kernel we used to use in karmic (which worked
fine during karmic for i.e. installing the ubuntu-desktop task)

i'm solwly starting to suspect that something in the lucid userspace
causes these disk I/O hangs, i will:

a) do some tests building a karmic under lucid userspace now
b) start a script in a qemu arm VM under lucid that will do endless loop
reading/writing to see if it hangs at some point

[Bug 522411] Re: Infomation in calendar is gone

2010-03-08 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thanks!

[Bug 532733] Re: apt/dpkg in qemu-system-arm hangs if a big task is installed

2010-03-08 Thread Oliver Grawert
note also that the VM itself doesnt hang, its just the disk IO ... if i stop
the hanging process teh VM is usable as before.
if you want to reproduce install rootstock and run:

sudo rootstock -f test -s ubuntu-netbook^
(note that wont give you any access to the VM, try the thing below for this)

or to have more debugging abilities use rootstock to create an armel
qemu minimal install (with username test and password test):

sudo rootstock -f test -s ubuntu-minimal -l test -p test --keepimage

then run qemu-system-arm as described at

to a mini-printserver over LAN. All windows PCs in the network are printing
like a charm, unlike the Ubuntu Karmic PC (above), that takes very long time to
print pictures (bw A4, for instance) or OO documents (haven't seen it printing
an image yet in fact).
Since I am sharing this unpleasant experience with one of my children and have
to print his homework on a windows machine, the pressure on me is really high
to get this fixed.

[Bug 534403] [NEW] mouse pointer

2010-03-08 Thread Johnny Quevedo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-mouse

UBUNTU RELEASE
Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release:10.04

PACKAGE VERSION
xserver-xorg-input-mouse:
  Installed: 1:1.5.0-1
  Candidate: 1:1.5.0-1
  Version table:
 *** 1:1.5.0-1 0

PROBLEM
The system automatically logs in. By the time the desktop opens I expected the
mouse pointer to be there. There was no mouse pointer but I was able to track
the mouse by using the Ctrl key. If I right clicked the menu would come up. In
fact all mouse buttons were working. There was just no mouse pointer visible
but the mouse was there. The first time this happened I updated the system and
the mouse pointer became visible.

When I turned off the system and turned it on again the mouse pointer
was not visible. I tried going on appearance and selecting a different
pointer - no change.

I opened terminal sudo apt-get update and the mouse pointer became
visible again. This happened the second time I restarted as well. The
only way I can get the mouse pointer to become visible is by opening the
terminal and running the sudo apt-get update command.

2010-03-08 Thread Elliot Murphy
Sorry you ran into this bug while installing. I'm a bit confused on this
one though. I can't find a package named oprofile-jit, at least not on
packages.ubuntu.com. and 9.10 has a different version of oprofile than
what is mentioned here. Where can I find this package?
