I sent an email to the author of quisk , describing
the 1 line change.
After applying this fix, the next problem was to overcome the "cannot
open...". I tried various settings in ~/.quisk_conf.py, and also noticed

i experience the same thing too. mp3 files often skipping when played
from rhythmbox, banshee, and audacious. changing the default gstreamer
to alsa didn't cure all skipping, only minimize it. set the default rate
to 44100 in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf only minimize the skipping too.
i use ubuntu 10.0

I tried power2 in the Eee with Atom N450 and, while I can't be sure that
there are less wakeups, I feel a generic slugginess everywhere in the
system, not only with the pointer. I'm going back to power1 for now.

Thanks for all the input on this issue. I believe there is enough
information for the developers to begin to resolve this issue, so I am
marking this bug confirmed.
I will question whether this is a bug in "xrdp" or "tightvncserver" as
comment #18 seems to suggest.

Workaround: create dummy DSL connection and fill ip settings
then gconf-editor - found dummy DSL connection (last one), copy paste to needed
VPN connection, and don't forget to change maethod from "auto" to "manual".

I've already tested this upsteam as stated in the original report, and
networking only gets worse (random disconnects from the wireless)
starting with versions released late June.
