Further my speakers make a scratchy static crackling noise when I press

Yes, kernel 2.6.35.3 solves the problem on my HP 8440p, the screen works

I have just upgraded the firmware in my E220. It was already at
11.110.05.00.00 (the one from Vodafone) so I took it to 11.117.09.04.00.
Under 10.04.1 the behaviour is now decidedly odd.
When I plug it in lights flash and the CD part of it shows up. There is
no sign of the modem side, though,

that some channels on a specific multiplex (perhaps the whole multiplex?) had

Unfortunately, I can't tell - I would have to reformat a machine and
reinstall Ubuntu from scratch with QWERTY, then switch to DVORAK to see
what would happen. I don't have a machine spare I can do that to at the
moment, maybe someone else does? Or maybe I'll get a spare machine
later. Sorry.

I am also seeing this in a brand new desktop system with Ubuntu 10.04
(64-bit) installed. I have the nvidia drivers installed, but do not
have dual monitors configured.

The message 'Your system has become unstable and may require a restart'
appears every time after resuming from suspend. Apart from the message,
there doesn't seem to be anything untoward happening, other than the
audio being muted, and that's easily rectified.
