Above, where I said "in the past, guests used to see a /dev/sda entry",
I meant in my experience with xen prior to EC2. On EC2 I don't know
that I have ever seen a /dev/sda entry. Its also possible I could be
remembering incorrectly outside of EC2 also.

to be honest, I don't see why you are maintaining a separate anyremote ppa
anyway.
Ubuntu syncs and releases with my packages from debian, as you can see on
http://packages.ubuntu.com/anyremote .
If the ones in ubuntu are too outdated, it should be easier to just request/do
another

I have Dropbox installed on 2 systems, one with 32-bit Ubuntu one with

I've solved the issue by moving share from /home/techtonik/Downloads/shared to
/home/techtonik/shared
It was written somewhere that access rights somehow depend on parent path. It
would be nice if system warned about such parent permissions when sharing
directory - the same way it warns about pe

I'm generally in favor of Lex's idea of hiding middle-men. (For example,
today I recommended rewriting an aptdaemon error message to no longer
mention aptdaemon.) Maybe one day Ubuntu software updates will be
completely automatic, so we don't need to visibly refer to the updater
as a thing at all -

This definitely needs to be fixed, but having mode 640 when the owner is
root is not a security vulnerability since root can write to a 440 file
just as easily as a 640 file. I'm assuming it is not changing the
ownership. Please verify it is still owned by root:root and if not,
remark this as secur
