I just found a workaround:
Plugging in my camera stops gphoto2 as well as shotwell from triggering
this behaviour. Well, this is where it gets odd for me. Anyway, this is
not a practicable workaround, since battery life is limited.
By the way, I just updated libusb and gphoto just before trying
recently tried on 2.32.0.1-0ubuntu1 and same behaviour.

I still think the problem is of a gstreamer and pulseaudio combination.
I've run two tests using a wav file:
1.- paplay test.wav - pulseaudio rises to 14% cpu in my very old computer. The
sound is ok.

Do you get auto-completion for both devices and directories?
Say, as an example, we have a DVD drive accessible through /dev/dvd0, and a
directory /path/to/dvd that contains a VIDEO_TS folder with DVD-format videos.

Clicked the commit button too soon.
I'm attaching usb_modeswitch log. The funny thing is that by default,
usb_modeswitch_dispatcher doesn't seem to be able to find my device (see first
part of the log). Then, if I try to re-run the script using the same argument,
it runs, but it doesn't switch
I tried again but it sounds okay. The problem seems to have been fixed
today ...

I use netbook MSIWind U135 and ubuntu 10.10. I'm unable to reboot or
shut-down the computer. When i tried to reboot or shutdown the ubuntu
hangup. It is probably caused by the wifi card driver. The result of the

Additionally, the card used for my debug has 256MB onboard shown in
lspci below, as I noted a comment in #554143 relating to ati cards with
=32Mb having the console dropped to 8bpp by a kernel patch.
I took the previous patch and surrounded the pragma with #ifdef __x86_64
and #endif. I did a compile test on a 64bit Lucid host.
