An update: I have been experimenting with kernel command-line params for
APIC. Adding noapic make no difference- you still get all CPUs
appearing and it still crashes after a few minutes. Adding nolapic has
the same effect as disabling APIC in the bios: the system is stable, but
you only get 1

Well .. it says up there: add nohz=off to the command boot line.
example:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash nohz=off
That actually works. It lets the system run smooth. It turns off the CPU
Effects. Shorter battery life, higher risk of overheating the laptop is
the downturn on that

This is now happening for me after upgrading to 10.10. This is the first

First after installing, and switching to the nvidia drivers and enabling
my second monitor, all applications lost their theme settings. I
eventually 'fixed' this by killing the gnome-settings-daemon and then

I spoke with kees about this this evening. X doesn't depend directly on
dbus; it sounds like it is metacity's dbus dependency which is faulting
here. Metacity exits with an error, so xvfb propagates that error up.

I confirm that Konstantin Katuev's attachment works as a viable
solution. I tested it with a Gateway LT21*** netbook and a 32 MB SD

Another use with the same problem, the same sound card ( EMU10k1X ).

If the profile is disabled, it wouldn't affect anything. Also, Firefox
is not meant to be run as 2 users w/one profile. Please use a different
profile for each user that you want to use.

Im waiting for multi-touch too. But i think its difficult to implement.
It can take a long time to bring multi-pointer support to this driver.
