Does this issue still affect later versions of Ubuntu? I suspect it
does not, since statd has been converted to an upstart job in lucid and
the error message looks to me like a startup problem with statd; but I
could be mistaken.

Watching ~/.xsession-errors with tail, I can see I get 2 of these errors
every time a copy is performed from both firefox and chromium
