[Bug 780405] [NEW] Floppy is not mounted/opened
Public bug reported: While trying to access floppy drive, the led shines for a short while, then nothing happens. Neither from Places-Floppy Drive, nor from Places- Computer-Floppy drive. Manual mounting helped. sudo mount -t msdos /dev/fd0u1440 /media/floppy Resulted in the appearance of floppy icon in the computer. Access (copying, deleting) was possible only from command line and as a root. Umount was possible only for the root user. [Bug 609861] Re: Process list shoud have filter by process name
I guess this is technically a feature request, not a bug, but I've been annoyed about this for some time. It's a much-needed functionality that would be easy to implement and would perhaps double the program's usefulness. Are the dev's afraid I'd be 'confused' by such an advanced capability, and that my workflow would be 'simpler' and more 'intuitive' if I'm forced to manually scroll through an enormous list to find what I'm looking for? I still like Gnome/Ubuntu more than the alternatives, but sometimes... :O -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609861 Title: Process list shoud have filter by process name -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 423481] Re: Banshee refuses to play internet radio stream
Colin Keenan wrote on 2011-04-08: #10 http://radiokstreams.cce.umn.edu:8256/listen.pls Works with Banshee 2.0 on 11.04. This does not work for me. Banshee 2.0.0 on Ubuntu 11.04 64bit. Additionally, all radio stations at http://www.di.fm/ do not work. Example: http://listen.di.fm/public3/minimal.pls Chromium downloads the file. Totem movie player can open and start the stream fine. However, Banshee cannot. So if you want to stream internet radio in Banshee either to A) have it play all your music or B) listen to internet radio while something is simultaneously playing in Movie Player, this is not possible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423481 Title: Banshee refuses to play internet radio stream -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 780408] [NEW] Resume from suspend leads to dead keyboard and screen.
Public bug reported: There has to be a problem with the Suspend function. After I resume, the computer blacks out. Nothing is working, and by nothing I mean the mouse pointer, the screen and the keyboard. (Sometimes, before blacking out, the computer actually shows me a window asking for my user password, but even when I input it RIGHT, the computer just blacks out again, making me shut it down from the power button.) Also. there is one more thing that happens. After I press the power button again to turn on the computer, as soon as I am logged in, I don't have any sound (the sound bar is empty) but, oddly, when I press the hotkey to increase the sound , the bar is restored to maximum with just ONE hit of the button. This has to be the best description I can give to this problem. Re: [Bug 646724] Re: not all files show up in files-place
There is a difference between Tracker and Zeitgeist: Tracker indexes stuff in the XDG directories only per default which means it will only index stuff in Music, Documents, etc... It will not cover a Directory Foo or anything in it. (it makes optimal for people with lots of files in the default directories) Zeitgeist indexes stuff you touch. Which means it does not index stuff you never interacted with (it makes it optimal for fresh installs). Plus Zeitgeist allows you to sort through receny, frequency, relevancy and resemblance to the search string. I am creating a zeitgeist extension that if Tracker is installed it will ask Tracker for results and attach them to the zeitgeist results and return them to the client. We have a working prototype. I am not happy with the solution but its fast enough... Stay tuned. [Bug 773740] Re: 11.04 --DARK SCREEN--Need a lamp to see
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 765438 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765438 Here is the problem in detail. The sound problem occurs in both kernels and with the i915.alse_backlight=1 command upon boot. On the standard kernel the computer resumes with a single button press, I get a screen without backlight and the mouse cursor swimming in that screen with no purpose since there is nothing to click on but blackness. On the kamal- without-the-i915.alse_backlight=1-command kernel, I get nothing, not even the mouse pointer. The difference is that I cannot resume with a single key press; I have to press the power button to resume. Instead when I press other keys I see that the flashing orange light on my laptop(which indicates that I am in suspend mode) corresponds to my press and it flashes in synchronization with my presses. Same goes with the kamal-with-the-i915.alse_backlight=1-command. The same apply as before but this time there is a swimming-in-blackness mouse pointer as in case 1. Ah ic, thanks for the clarification. [Bug 780424] [NEW] Xorg unresponsive after screensaver unlock with Dual Head
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg As background I'm running multi-GPU multi-session multi-head with 3 screens on two NVIDIA GPU Quadro NVS 290 (G86GL) cards (one on one, two on the other). Machine is a quad core with 8G ram and 8G swap. Individual gnome sessions on each screen (ie I can't transfer programs between screens and each screen has full menus). Occasionally after unlocking my mouse cursor rapidly flickers between screens and the machine is totally unresponsive at the console. Logging in via ssh and I can see load and cpu usage rapidly increases, memory usage also goes through the roof until all memory and swap is consumed at which point the oom-killer kicks in (or possibly Xorg crashes) , kills Xorg and I can log back in (with my session lost). In the mistaken assumption that I didn't have enough swap I increased it (from 2G to 10G) all this did was allow the machine to be a little bit more responsive for longer but Xorg still continued to consume memory, last time it got to 11.2G of virtual and a load average of 24 before I rebooted the machine. As a comparison, right now Xorg has 153m with load averages all at ~0.5. While I realise this may not include enough as is this is a reasonably regular (and very annoying) bug for me, if any further details can be collected at the time please let me know, I can (within reason) run anything as needed. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/780424 Title: Xorg unresponsive after screensaver unlock with Dual Head -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 757814] Re: Static Application Switcher Plugin does not show window titles
I agree with Martin. The lack of text in application-switcher and 'expose' is very annoying and productivity bottleneck; specially for people like me who work with too many apps at the same time. Re: [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met
I'd say a simpler but still useful thing would be to make sure that if some hardware isn't compatible at the time of release because a proprietary driver is required (and that's the situation here - Unity doesn't work on Nouveau), then a big, red note of that should be made in the release notes prompt encouraging for upgrade, so that people can wait until Nvidia or any other vendor provides updated driver. Alternatively, the upgrading script should warn user about such incompatibilities at the start of the process, allowing them to easily cancel.
