[Bug 550409] Re: Slow disk IO for all guests with all disc modes and types.
People should be aware that cache=writeback should only be used if you do not care about the very real possibility of guest disk corruption should the guest or host fail unexpectedly. Given that there is no facility for shutting down guests cleanly on host shutdown one should be very wary of risking their guest data for anything important. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/550409 Title: Slow disk IO for all guests with all disc modes and types. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 419182] Re: KVM and audio driver in Windows 7
I finally found a driver for win7 64bit which is working with the ac97 sound card: http://www.64bitdrivers.com/driver.php?id=1375 If you download the driver sk35558.exe and edit the inf file for the PCI IDs used by kvm it will install with a warning about unsigned code. Add the following line to the [Conexant.NTamd64] Section in the file cp6308Ba.inf: %*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_8086DEV_2415SUBSYS_8086 I think this helps to mitigates the issue till we update to a new version with hda sound support. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/419182 Title: KVM and audio driver in Windows 7 -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I can't reproduce this on my natty host which also has cups and the system-config-printer-gnome running. I don't have high hopes that they are in fact the culprit, but still it seems worth checking. Could you try removing system-config-printer-* packages and stop cups, sudo stop cups sudo apt-get remove system-config-printer-gnome system \ system-config-printer-common \ system-config-printer-udev Log out and back in, and see if after that kvm is able to use the printer. [Bug 791410] Re: Extra Apache instances not started on boot
** Description changed: + == + SRU Justification: + 1. Impact: multiple apache instances (apache-*) are not started on boot + 2. How bug addressed: the apache2 init script allows itself to have a prefix (i.e. S01) when it is one of the multiple 'apache-*' instances. + 3. Patch: see comment #4 + 4. TEST CASE: reboot a system after following /usr/share/doc/apache2/README.multiple-instances instructions to create multiple instances. Only the main instance will be started. + 5. Regression potential: The patch is against the init script. If there were a bug in the patch, then apache might fail to start up properly. + == + Binary package hint: apache2 I'm running a setup with multiple Apache instances (see /usr/share/doc/apache2/README.multiple-instances). The extra instances aren't started on boot because the Apache startup script /etc/init.d/apache2 contains the following test in line 20: elif [ ${0##*/apache2-} != $0 ] But the script name is something like /etc/rc2.d/S01apache2-xxx (note the S01 before apache2-xxx). This isn't actually a multiarch problem. Following the directions from the referenced site results in installation of an i386 'libaio' package which doesn't even match the official {libaio1,libaio-dev} packages in the Ubuntu archive, let alone supporting multiarch. So this is an ordinary package conflict between an official package and an unsupported unofficial one. I don't think there's any bug here. If this is a library that's important to have cross-installable as a 32-bit lib on a 64-bit system, we can certainly make *converting* it to multiarch a priority; but it's not a bug per se that it isn't yet converted. ** Changed in: libaio (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libaio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773891 Title: package libaio-dev (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/include/libaio.h', which is also in package libaio:i386 0.3.104-1 -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

On Wed, Jun 1, 2011 at 12:09 PM, Conscious User consciousu...@gmail.com wrote: I'm developing an application that uses linked labels a lot, and it seems that this bug is not completely solved, it's only happening less often. After testing with and without Compiz, I'm more or less convinced that links always work when Compiz is off and occasionally do not work when Compiz is on. They won't work when the window is not focused, yes. Have a look at section 6.3 of the ICCCM for why they can't work: http://tronche.com/gui/x/icccm/sec-6.html . In order to raise windows we need to ensure that we can capture button clicks on them (otherwise click raise won't work on anything other than the titlebar). By doing this it will trigger a grab on the other application and it gets a LeaveNotify event (the same kind of event that is given when the cursor leaves the subwindow). ... unfortunately there is a bug in GTK+ where it does not actually check the *reason* the LeaveNotify event was given, so the link will not work in the case where we have the grab. I poked through the GTK+ code to try and figure out why this was, but I couldn't get a substantive answer. I've changed the compiz code in N to reflect this problem, so now we do passive button grabs as little as possible, and only on windows that we actually own. [Bug 791055] Re: slow
is it firefox that is slow here or Ubuntu? [Bug 787995] Re: Leafpad segfaults
I am runnning the distributed Ubuntu-package version of leafpad. However, during my investigation of the problem I wanted to run it through gdb and produce a useful backtrace to see where the error occured. Thus, I needed debug symbols. As I could not find any -dbg package in the mirrors, I did an apt-get source leafpad in order to obtain the source code. Then I compiled it myself and ran it through gdb in order to produce the above traces. Please note, I did not change anything in the source AND it produces the same error when using the pre-packaged version of leafpad as when I am using the self-compiled one. This bug is reported for the Ubuntu-packaged one and not the self- compiled version. I am sorry for any confusion and I hope this is clear now. According to the backtrace, the error happens on line 83 in window.c. This is what hinted the theme relation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787995 Title: Leafpad segfaults -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 701294] Re: Always show menu bar for non-maximised windows
I totally agree with Robert's suggestion about the Global Menu. And by a possible configuration option it wouldn't have to look like this anymore (I guess the intention was to show which menu I'm working with, but it looks quite ugly (unaethetic) to use the space of the buttons to show the application's name). ** Attachment added: graphical blemish https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/701294/+attachment/2150114/+files/global_menu.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/701294 Title: Always show menu bar for non-maximised windows -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
