[Bug 787587] Re: Cannot change screen resolution on Dell Duo in Natty
Regarding resolution question in #10. The sensitivity of the Duo touch screen is not close to that on a phone. Therefore, for a decent touch experience you need a larger resolution in the 16:9 ratio spectrum. Users of the Duo have found the 1024x576 resolution to be a good middle ground. [Bug 756270] Re: ufw does not work with lxc or kvm bridge mode and then stops working
Thank you for using Ubuntu and reporting a bug. First, the way you are using iptables outside of ufw is not supported. For testing, I recommend you use: $ sudo ufw disable $ sudo ufw enable $ sudo ufw reload The reload command is what you want to use after making changes to /etc/ufw/*.rules as documented in the ufw-framework man page. You might also be interested in the /lib/ufw/ufw-init script for debugging. Based on your instructions after enabling ufw, you never allowed in ssh connections with something like: $ sudo ufw allow OpenSSH Based on the information given, I think you may also be hitting bug #581744 which is fixed in Ubuntu 10.10. [Bug 800918] [NEW] Some wallpaper/backdrops ideas
Public bug reported: On xubuntu the default folder for Backdrops is /usr/share/xfce4/backdrops this folder is not explained when one opens xfdesktop-settings, and even if one tries to add wallpapers to the presented list they will only remain as long as being used, if one chooses a backdrop (why not wallpaper?) thats not on the list, and then chooses another, the previous one will not be in the list the next time we open the settings manager. I've been thinking on ways to avoid this confusing problem... Maybe having such folder symlinked to something like ~/.confing/backdrops (or ~/.config/wallpapers) will allow users to fastly find such folder, and then add their own, maybe if the folder ownership is given to all, and the default wallpapers to root? maybe changing the way xfce stores its wallpapers/backdrops? Maybe turning xfdesktop-settings list into a text file kind of list? not depending on the contents of only one folder? maybe adding a new folder on ~/ whit the users wallpapers, and other on the default folder for the rest of the users? and making xfdesktop- settings see both? And talking about wallpapers, what about the default webbrowser for xubuntu (firefox), from which you can theorically set your wallpaper, but in the practic just copy the image on ~/ whit the name firefox wallpaper.format, what if that image went directly to the wallpaper folder (our theoretic ~/.config/backdrops) whit date/hour stamps? so even if you can't autoset the wallpaper from firefox you can still choose it from the list? i think the best way would be to change the way xfdesktop-settings lists its wallpapers, adding just another folder to the list, one being the standard default /usr/share/xfce4/backdrops and the other being ~/.config/backdrops. just my opinion, thanks a lot for reading and have a nice day. [Bug 800921] [NEW] Data saved to a fuseblk (Windows NTFS) file system is silently lost
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Studio 11.04 (natty) Document Viewer 2.32.0 I spent almost an hour filling out a PDF form from a fuseblk (Windows NTFS) file system. Saving back onto the fuseblk (Windows NTFS) file system seemed to work because no error was reported and Nautilus showed that the saved file was bigger than the blank file. [Bug 800857] Re: language-pack-en-base 1:11.04+20110607 adds firefox as dependency
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. We added the recommends on the firefox language pack to pull in that language pack on upgrades since it's now built by the firefox source. However, our testing apparently didn't discover this issue that Firefox itself gets pulled in on upgrade on systems that don't have it. This would affect servers and derivatives like Kubuntu. We apologize for this inconvenience and will fix this as soon as possible. ** Package changed: language-pack-en-base (Ubuntu) = firefox (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Micah Gersten (micahg) ** Also affects: firefox (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu Natty) Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu Natty) Assignee: (unassigned) = Micah Gersten (micahg) ** Summary changed: - language-pack-en-base 1:11.04+20110607 adds firefox as dependency + language packs pull in Firefox on upgrade -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/800857 Title: language packs pull in Firefox on upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/800857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 800927] [NEW] setting thunderbird as preferred email application corrupts Launch Web Browser shortcut
Public bug reported: when I set thunderbird as the mail client in preferred applications, my Launch web browser shortcut key launches firefox with a big random number (eg 1107040615) instead of continuing to use the specified home page (in my case google). I can reproduce this by a) create a new user b) select a key combination for Launch web browser keyboard shortcut d) hit the key combo to verify it works (it does, but for a new user it goes to about:startpage instead of google, which is fine) e) change preferred applications mail reader to thunderbird f) hit the key combo for Launch web browser again. This time firefox tries to go to a big random number instead of about:startpage. [Bug 800857] Re: language packs pull in Firefox on upgrade
So, this dependency in the nightly builds is currently very strict, because we get issues with users upgrading firefox without upgrading language packs, in combination with running the addon compatibility reporter, and this breaks Firefox. We want to be able to prevent users upgrading one or the other in future, so I've replaced the dependency in the nightly build with a strict Breaks instead, but i'm not sure how well that will work out yet. There is no strict relationship in the current stable version (it's just a loose dependency), so there's no need to keep that -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/800857 Title: language packs pull in Firefox on upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/800857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
